PUBLICATION POLICIES

 

The Editorial Board of the Romanian Journal of Rhinology recommend that all researchers who consider submitting and will submit their articles (original studies/reviews/short scientific communication/case reports) to the journal should examine this publication guide. The Romanian Journal of Rhinology subscribes to theCommittee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines and DOAJ principles on how to deal with aspects as plagiarism, copyright, misconduct, publication transparency. Therefore, it is committed to investigating allegations of misconduct in order to ensure the integrity of research and publication.

 

Plagiarism policy

According to the dictionary, “plagiarism” is a noun, meaning “an act or instance of using or closely imitating the language and thoughts of another author without authorization and the representation of that author’s work as one’s own, as by not crediting the original author”. It represents a violation of ethics. Authors should provide the information with their own words and cite the original publication or quote directly from the other publication by using the quotation marks (commas or periods) and mention and cite the original author(s) and publication.

For this reason, all manuscripts submitted for publication in the Romanian Journal of Rhinology are evaluated using the iThenticate software plagiarism checker. The evaluation is performed primarily at submission and once again after the evaluation of the reviewers (double-blind reviewing process).

Considering the similarity index resulted, the report can be rejected or sent to the author(s) with the request to correct the errors and send it again for evaluation. The final decision is made by the Editor-in-Chief.

The plagiarism policy is in accordance with COPE rules.

 

Copyright

For all the articles submitted to the Romanian Journal of Rhinology, the author(s) should state that the paper submitted is original and it has not been published elsewhere in the similar form, and that he/she is the author of the manuscript, except the material that is clearly identified as to its original source, with permission notices from the copyright owners where required.

For the Open Access publication the authors retain the copyright, their patent right and all unregistered rights: the same rights stipulated in the open access license agreement type (see below); can post their published articles to their website or any non-commercial repository with a link to the appropriate DOI for the published version of the article, for non-commercial purposes; the right to use all or parts of their article in their future own works, including lectures and books (on condition to cite/quote); the right to reproduce the article for own purposes, their own or research colleagues’ scholarly needs, provided the copies are not offered for sale (on condition to cite/quote); the right to self-archive the article.

The Romanian Rhinologic Society is the owner of the Romanian Journal of Rhinology’s name and copyright holder of all published content. The commercial license of all published articles will be transferred to the journal’s owner.

On submission, the author(s) will send the “Copyright transfer agreement” (completed and signed).

 

Open Access Policy

Romanian Journal of Rhinologyprovides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, search, print, or to link to the full texts of the articles, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author, provide the original work is properly attributed. This is in accordance with the BOAI (Budapest Open Access Initiative) definition of open access. The open access policies adopted by the Journal Owner and Editorial Board of the Journal can be found at https://www.budapestopenaccessinitiative.org/boai-10-recommendations.

The Romanian Journal of Rhinology meets the DOAJ definition of Open Access, meaning that the “digital content is freely available online AND user rights and the terms of copyright are defined”.

Copyright owner and the author(s) grant free access to all users for all articles published online in the Romanian Journal of Rhinology.

The article will be published free of charge under theCreative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0) License. Creative Commons licenses are public copyright licenses which help standardize the permission to share and use works and studies.

CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 license requires that reusers give credit to the creator by citing or quoting the original work. It allows reusers to copy, share, read, download, print, redistribute the material in any medium or format, or to link to the full texts of the articles, for non-commercial purposes only. If others remix, adapt, or build upon the material, they may not distribute the modified material.

  • BY (Attributions):  Credit must be given to the creator, provide link to the license, and indicate if changes were made.
  • NC (NonCommercial):  Only non-commercial use of the work is permitted.
  • ND (NoDerivatives):  No derivatives or adaptations of the work are permitted.

Ethical standards

The authors should warrant their research or study is original. To avoid plagiarism authors should ensure that cases of dual publication are avoided. Each author should sign an authorship responsibility form, in which it is stated that each author has contributed in the work presented by the article and he/she takes public responsibility for the content.The author will sign and send an “Authorship responsibility form”.

The manuscript submitted for publication must contain a statement that the humans’ studies have been performed in accordance with the ethical standards laid down in an appropriate version of the 1964 Declaration of Helsinki. It should be stated clearly that all patients gave their informed consent for their inclusion in the study.

Reports on animal experiments must state that the “Principles of laboratory animal care” were followed.

The editors reserve the right to reject the manuscripts that do not comply with the above-mentioned requirements.

 

Conflict of interests

Financial support and relationships relevant to the subject discussed in the manuscript (employment or affiliation, grands, honoraria, stock ownership, etc.), represents an important conflict of interests.

The author(s) should inform the Editorial Board about the potential conflict of interest and sign a Financial Discloser.

            Complaints and appeals

            All complaints and appeals addressed against the journal, its staff, the editorial board, or the Publisher should be submitted at rinologie@gmail.com. All complaints will be handled according to COPE’s guidance by the Editor-in-Chief.

 

            Post-publication corrections and retractions

            The editors of the Romanian Journal of Rhinology consider retracting an article if one of the following criteria are fulfilled:

  • Plagiarism.
  • Reports on unethical research.
  • The copyright agreement has been infringed.
  • The article contains materials or data for which the author(s) cannot provide an authorization for use.
  • The presented data has been previously published elsewhere without proper attribution to previous sources or discloser to editor, permission to republish.
  • The author(s) wanted to manipulate and compromise the peer review process.
  • The author(s) failed to disclose important competing interest (for example, conflict of interests, financial sources) which might influence the peer review process and the interpretation of data.
